Countryside Properties has secured land capable of accommodating over 5,000 new homes during 2013, substantially increasing the group’s land holdings that now stand at 23,300 plots.

The company's New Homes & Communities’ Division has focused on expanding its land portfolio in the East of England, its core area of operation, as well as making headway in generating opportunities across the Home Counties.

The opportunities secured by Countryside Properties will provide up to 17 new sales outlets across 15 new sites with units forecast for delivery from 2015, providing a good platform of future housing supply. These include Bourn Airfield near Cambridge, which, subject to planning consent, will provide up to 3,500 new homes.

In addition, Countryside Properties have agreed terms, subject to contract and planning, for a further 14 sites which could accommodate an additional 3,000 new homes.

Graham Cherry, chief executive of Countryside Properties, said: “We have made a series of important acquisitions during 2013 allowing us to continue to expand as per our strategy and adding the potential for 5,040 new homes to our pipeline.

"We have one of the strongest land banks in our sector relative to our output, which we are looking to further strengthen over the coming months, with a focus on sites within London and the Home Counties.”
