A £1.7 million development in Nantwich will provide 12 two-bedroom homes on the site of a former pub, and the construction tap has just been turned on with a completion date of December 2014.
Wulvern development manager Nick Powell (photo) said "the new homes will go a long way towards meeting the demand for affordable housing" in the Cheshire town.
Crewe-based Wulvern has appointed local contractors Lothlorian to transform the former Millfields public house site into the dozen homes plus two one-bedroom apartments, each with their own contained garden and parking spaces. The site is on Blagg Avenue.
Wulvern has grant funding of £308,000 through the Homes and Communities Agency’s Affordable Homes Guarantee Programme. Wulvern said “the homes will be offered for affordable rent on completion in December 2014”.
Wulvern manages over 5,200 homes in Crewe, Nantwich and surrounding villages. It is also currently on-site at two other former pubs in Crewe, building 20 apartments on the former Rockwood pub and 14 two-bedroom houses on the grounds of the former Royal Scott public house.
