New Chief Executive Appointed at Tenant-Run Housing Group

WATMOS Community Homes has announced the appointment of Tom Hopkins as their new Chief Executive Officer.
Tom, who was Managing Director at the national resident training and advisory consultancy Open Communities, joins WATMOS on January 2, 2014.
Tom takes up the reins of the organisation after the sad loss of previous Chief Executive, Ursula Barrington, who died in July after suffering from heart problems.
Announcing the appointment, Chair, Glenn Martin said he was looking forward to Tom becoming part of the team and believed he would play a significant part in building on its successes over the past decade.
Glenn said: “Tom has an extremely impressive background in social housing management and has worked in community participation and tenant involvement for the past 20 years.
“He has extensive knowledge and a personal commitment to high performance in the tenant controlled housing sector, and we believe he can play a valuable role in maintaining and developing the Watmos legacy.”
Tom Hopkins, 52, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing, said: “I look forward to working alongside the staff and tenant management organisations which represent WATMOS Community Homes.
“I aim to develop and strengthen the organisation nationally. I want to make sure that WATMOS continues to be a place where staff want to work, and develop communities, where people want to live."
