Morningside over 50s club enjoyed rocking around the Christmas tree at a fun-filled festivity, thanks to funding from Sanctuary Housing.
The social club, run entirely by volunteer members, enjoyed a party to remember with a DJ playing Christmas tunes old and new and a tasty, seasonal buffet served for all to savour.
Held at Sanctuary’s Morningside Community Centre on 18 December, local businesses also contributed with Perry Ingle on Well Street providing mince pies and puffs and Greggs on Mare Street donating chocolate muffins.
The group relies entirely on fundraising for the activities in their weekly club. Every Wednesday the residents meet for tea, biscuits, bingo and sometimes a fish and chips lunch.
Jo Revett, senior projects officer at Sanctuary Housing, said: “It is great to see the hard work of volunteers and the success of such a thriving club, which has been running for over 20 years.
“I am really pleased we were able to offer them the venue and provide funding for the Christmas party. The residents had a great time getting together for the occasion.”
Morningside over 50s always welcome new members to their club. If you are interested or want to know more, contact Jo Revett, senior projects officer at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 020 8826 1656.
