Residents at Brereton Court Sheltered Scheme, Cheadle Hulme had a lot to smile about at the official opening of their new and improved communal lounge.
The lounge has benefited from a complete makeover including new plaster and décor including new carpets and blinds.
Elsie Cormer, 95 said of the improvements: “Jean (our Scheme Manager) is absolutely wonderful. I can’t fault all the work that’s been done. It’s a real pleasure to live here now."
Residents have also benefitted from £1,500 of funding, thanks to Forever Manchester, to help support the lunch club with an under counter freezer, serving trolley and a heated side server, as well as funds for IT training.
The lunch club is run by two volunteers, provided by Pure Innovations that support people with disabilities and disadvantaged groups to get into work, and the Scheme Manager Jean Morgan.
Manchester Airport also provided £800 of funding for gardening equipment, a shed and benches to help improve the external communal areas.
