Thanks to funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Stockport Homes and Stockport Council have worked in close partnership over the last four years to deliver 107 properties, with a further 46 under construction and 58 due to start on site early next year.
Yesterday saw the official opening of 17 new properties for affordable rent at Old Primary Close, Marple. The scheme comprises of 14 x 3 bedroom houses and 3 x 2 bedroom adapted bungalows.
Julie Parker, resident at Old Primary Close, kindly opened her home to showcase the new properties.
The opening was attended by Stephen Williams, Under Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government; Andrew Stunell, MP for Hazel Grove; and representatives from the HCA, Stockport Homes and Stockport Council.
Roger Phillips said: “I’m proud to say that in the last two years, in partnership with Stockport Council and the HCA, Stockport Homes has built or acquired 59 per cent of all the new affordable housing in Stockport. This is more than any other Registered Provider in the Stockport Housing Partnership. That’s definitely something to celebrate!”
