Sanctuary Group is celebrating the handover of the first rented units to be completed at a development in the Oxfordshire village of Arncott, just south of Bicester.

The leading housing and care provider is delivering a total of 19 new homes at the Arncott Fields site in Murcott Road, Upper Arncott, a £2.3 million project with investment of more than £336,000 from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). The development will include a mix of 10 rental properties as well as nine houses available to buy on a shared ownership basis.

These new homes are being built by housebuilders Bloor Homes, with the first three units ready for occupation now and the remaining plots due for completion by summer 2014.

Sanctuary invited its partners at Cherwell District Council to the site to take a closer look at the completed homes and see the progress on the other Sanctuary properties under construction.

Jonathan Mullins, Sanctuary’s head of development for the Midlands said: “We are working closely with Cherwell District Council and Bloor Homes to help develop affordable housing in this area and we were delighted to welcome councillors to the Arncott Fields site for the completion of the first units, with more to come over the next six months.

“We are as committed as they are to providing high quality new homes in this part of North Oxfordshire and the site will be transformed over the next few months to create a mix of one, two and three bedroom homes in a community that people will be proud to be part of.”

He explained that almost all of the open market homes on this site have been reserved by Bloor Homes, and that the two and three bedroom shared ownership properties are likely to create a lot of interest as they are completed next year.

Councillor Debbie Pickford, lead member for housing at Cherwell District Council added:  "I'm delighted to see a further and much needed contribution to our affordable housing for Cherwell. Sanctuary is a valued partner in delivering new homes for those residents seeking quality affordable housing."

Ken Allen, Director of Partnership Housing at Bloor Homes, added: “Bloor Homes are pleased to be working in partnership with Sanctuary Group on the Arncott development.  This scheme is another example of our excellent working relationship with Sanctuary to deliver quality homes across all tenures on a national scale.”
