Unsung Hero Award being presented
Riversmead Housing Association, part of Network Housing Group, joined Councillors, dignitaries and guests at the fifth annual Mercury and Observer Community Awards last week, to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions local people and groups have made to their communities.
Riversmead were proud to once again sponsor the Unsung Hero Award, which pays tribute to inspirational individuals who have gone the extra mile to help their community.
Paul Huckstep, Riversmead’s Executive Director, said: “We recognise the courage and commitment it takes for an individual to stand up and make a difference to their neighbourhood.
“The Community Awards are a fantastic way to celebrate and share such achievements and we hope these incredible stories inspire others to get involved and make a difference.”
Paul presented the award to Sandra Ashley who works tirelessly to support vulnerable families, with complex needs throughout Hertfordshire, and has brought a lot of revenue and recognition to the local area.
Other awards presented on the night were volunteer of the year, good friend, young achiever, carer of the year, lifetime achievement and most courageous child.
The evening was an inspirational, heart warming and joyous occasion for the guests who attended.
