Tower Road drying area
An underused concrete drying area behind Riversmead Housing Association’s block of flats at Tower Road, Ware has been transformed into a beautiful garden area for residents.
Residents were not making use of the space and asked Riversmead to turn it into a garden area they could all benefit from. After extensive resident consultation over the past two years, architects Kyle Smart Associates created a design that met residents’ expectations.
Grounds maintenance contractor, Ground Control Ltd, completed the new garden this autumn. The great new look includes areas of open green space, drying areas, colourful raised planters, seating areas, allotment plots, two concrete barbeques and a play area for children.
Adriana Mahy, Riversmead’s Senior Contract Surveyor said: “We are delighted to have been able to help turn residents’ ideas into a reality and create a space they can make better use of.
“I wanted to thank residents for their patience throughout the transformation process and hope they enjoy their new garden and drying area for many years to come.”
Tower Road resident, Douglas Goodey said: “The garden is a vast improvement on what it was before. There are new clothes lines and grass areas for people to sit out on in the summer – it will be ideal.”
