Greenfields Community Housing starts work on 36 new affordable homes

Greenfields Community Housing has begun construction on 36 new affordable homes in Coggeshall, Essex, which are being built by Kier.
Greenfields’ staff, residents, Board members and partners gathered at the site on Wednesday 6 November 2013 to celebrate putting the first spade in the ground.
The homes will comprise of 12 one-bedroom flats, eight two-bedroom flats, eight two-bedroom houses, seven three-bedroom houses and one four-bedroom house. Each home will have two parking spaces and be built to the latest quality standards and environmental considerations. Building work is expected to be completed by spring 2015.
Alan Wyatt, Chairman of Greenfields, said: “This is our biggest development to date and it’s very exciting for us to be able to provide 36 new, affordable homes for those in need. We look forward to seeing the finished homes and to handing over the keys to the new tenants in 2015.”
Councillor Lady Patricia Newton, Cabinet Member for Planning and Property, attended the event and added: “It is always a pleasure to see work get underway on a scheme for new homes. Greenfields will be creating high-quality, modern, affordable housing, which is much needed in Coggeshall.”
Greenfields has already built eight homes in Sible Hedingham seven in Rayne, and five in Hatfield Peverel. They are planning to build up to 250 by 2018.
