Two Midlands-based housing associations have begun moves that could end in a merger, after Family Housing Association selected WM Housing Group as its preferred partner.
Angela Parks, chair of Family Housing, said: “Following a rigorous selection process over the last couple of months, we have had productive discussions with a number of housing providers who expressed an interest in becoming our partner. We are pleased to announce that our preferred partner is WM Housing Group.
“Family Housing has a lot to be proud of. Our services are good, customer satisfaction is high, our resident involvement and scrutiny function is highly esteemed and we have many areas of great practice.
“We believe that WM Housing Group shares our values and its services and strengths will best compliment ours.”
Family Housing, which owns approximately 2,500 homes in Birmingham, will work collaboratively with Optima Community Association whilst the legal and regulatory process takes place for Family to join WM Housing Group in April 2014.
Pat Brandum, group chief executive of WM Housing, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Family Housing Association to the Group. They share our values, commitment to customers and strengthen our presence in Birmingham.
“There are some exciting possibilities for the future of the partnership with Family having its own in-house repairs and grounds maintenance teams. It makes sense for the two organisations to work together and we will explore the best ways in which this can be achieved in the coming months.”
