West Midlands-based housing association whg has appointed two new tenant members to its board.
Sahid Hossenally and Roy Peace were nominated to the 13-strong board after serving on the 19,000-home provider's local committees.
Mr Hossenally, 66, has had a life-long career in nursing management, and has lectured new recruits to the nursing profession in the UK and abroad.
He said: “I’ve lived in Walsall since 2006 and am passionate about the place.
“Using my background and experiences I now want to give something back to the community. It is so important to engage customers, support them and keep them informed; this will be a priority for me as a tenant board member.
“There are lots of exciting challenges ahead and I look forward to making constructive decisions that will benefit both the organisation and its residents.”
Mr Peace has previously served on the board and re-joins as a Bloxwich Committee member.
He said: “I am thrilled to be back on the board. What I enjoy is being able to help the community out as much as I can. Having an input to the decision making of the organisation and getting an insight into what goes on behind the scenes at whg are two things I enjoy about the role.
“I have lived in Walsall all my life, and have no wish to go anywhere else.”
Jane Preece, WHG's director of organisational development, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sahid and Roy to the board. Our tenant board members take on a lot of responsibility and give their time freely and willingly as unpaid board members. We are grateful for their support to ensure we meet our legal and financial obligations and deliver our strategic objectives, in particular with services to our customers.
“Sahid and Roy have shown, via our local committees, the depth of their knowledge and skills. Their input will be invaluable as we look to develop our next corporate plan for 2014 and beyond.”
