There will be fun for all the family when residents on a growing West Bromwich estate help run a charity activity day during the half-term holiday.
The Family Fun Day being organised by the Lyng Community Association takes place at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Lyttleton Street, West Bromwich, on Wednesday 30th October.
There will be a host of activities during the day, which runs from 1pm-4pm, including craft tables, gifts, a raffle, a tombola and ‘try-your-luck’ games.
Local residents, who are organising the prizes and running the stands, decided that the free-to-enter event will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The charity will also have fund-raising merchandise on sale.
The fun day is just one of a range of autumn activities being offered by the resident-led Lyng Community Association. Working with Sandwell Council and Barrett Homes it has already transformed the Lyng with 350 new homes for sale and rent.
Now Community Development Officer Rachel Jennings is planning a number of projects to help keep people healthy, develop their skills and get more involved in their community.
She said: “There’s already a tremendous community spirit here on the Lyng, and we want to build on that sense of belonging to make it an even better place to live.
“This Family Fun Day will not only offer entertainment for all ages, but it also gives residents the opportunity to get involved in organising and running the activities. I’m sure everyone will have a great time and it will be a really rewarding day.”
