Residents from Riversmead Housing Association’s ten older persons’ schemes joined staff, neighbours, and friends to celebrate national Older People’s day on Tuesday 1st October 2013.
The annual event recognises the huge contribution older people make to their communities and aims to bring together different generations to share skills and experiences, creating better understanding and respect.
Residents enjoyed a range of activities at their schemes to mark the occasion including an Alice in Wonderland themed ‘Mad Hatters’ tea party, safety talks from the local police, live entertainment, buffet lunches and games of Play Your Cards Right and Blankety Blank.
Jan Forman, Riversmead’s Senior Neighbourhood Officer said: “Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. It’s great for residents and staff to come together and enjoy events like this; it’s lovely to see everyone having so much fun.
“We have close knit communities at all of our schemes and regular social activities like these help to build long lasting friendships.”
