Kier employees enjoy the coffee morning
Staff at local housing maintenance company, Kier North Tyneside, made time for what matters in life by joining the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, to help raise nearly £900 for Macmillan Cancer Support - making them one of the region’s largest fundraisers.
Kier North Tyneside, which carries out repairs and maintenance work on behalf of North Tyneside Council, also held the ‘Great Kier Bake Off’, which attracted 14 competitors from its Killingworth depot. The competition was fierce - but the three judges remained dedicated to finding a winner, leaving no cake untasted in their quest.
As well as the bake off, plenty of home baked goodies were brought in to sell, and staff and their families also donated prizes for a raffle.
Kier regional director for housing maintenance, Mike Furze, said: “We were delighted to support such a worthwhile cause - raising awareness of the work of the MacMillan nurses and the great work they do to support cancer sufferers and their families.”
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event. They ask people across the UK to hold a coffee morning, where donations on the day are made to Macmillan. In 2012 115,000 people signed up, raising a record £15m.
