Site transformed to create new homes in Haringey

The site of an old printworks in Muswell Hill has undergone a complete transformation to create much needed new homes for Haringey.
Planning consent for the Coppetts Road site was granted in March last year, and leading housing and care provider, Sanctuary Group, was selected to work with Taylor Wimpey to build a total of 12 new homes, including seven affordable rent properties for larger families and five apartments available on a shared ownership basis.
This £2.2 million development, part-funded by the Mayor of London, is now complete, with some residents moved in and settled in their brand new homes.
Sanctuary Group has worked closely with Haringey Council throughout the development, and recently invited representatives from the council along to view the completed properties and meet with some of the proud new tenants.
David Gooch, Sanctuary’s director of development for London, said: “We are committed to working within local communities to help provide high quality affordable homes where they are needed most, and we are delighted to have delivered these 12 new homes in Muswell Hill.
“While the provision of much needed affordable homes is good news in itself, Sanctuary always aims to maximise the potential of its developments and we are pleased to have played a part in transforming the look of the area and to having created training and employment opportunities on site as these new homes were built.”
Councillor Alan Strickland, Haringey Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration, said: “
Supporting a good supply of quality affordable housing is a top priority for the council.
“I am delighted to have visited this excellent development which is a great example of a high quality mixed tenure development. The provision here at Coppetts Road is undoubtedly good news for the area and for tenants who are busy settling in.
“Through working with partners like Sanctuary and the local community the council is committed to ensuring that the west of the borough and the whole of Haringey has greater levels of affordable housing going forward.”
Richard Blakeway, Deputy Mayor for Housing, Land and Property, said: “The Mayor is investing billions to increase the number of homes being built for working Londoners while boosting the capital’s economy. Developments like Coppetts Road show just how successful this can be, transforming the area with new, good quality and affordable family homes, and creating more jobs for local people.”
