Kier Sheffield has been recognised with yet another round of award short-listings at the Celebrating Construction in South Yorkshire Awards which are being held in the region tonight (4 October), continuing a year of multiple award wins for the partnership.
The partnership between Sheffield City Council and repairs and maintenance provider Kier is nominated in the Health & Safety, Corporate Responsibility and Training categories. It recently received its eighth consecutive gold from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and celebrated a double success at the Considerate Constructors Scheme National Company Awards, adding to a trophy cabinet already full from the past decade.
Kier Sheffield has been presented with awards in almost every category since its formation ten years ago. The South Yorkshire provider has been consistently recognised for its outstanding customer service and commitment to safety in the workplace, as well as its dedication to the environment and sustainable solutions in construction and maintenance.
It has also won Employer of the Year from the Yorkshire Training Partnership in 2011 and Outstanding Employer of the Year in 2008. Kier Sheffield’s apprentices have also been honoured, winning the JTL South Yorkshire Apprentice of the Year and JTL National Young Builder of the Year in 2010.
The company won the Work Inspiration Award at the BITC Awards in 2010 and has been recognised for its outstanding projects Woolley Wood and Angram Bank Children’s Centre.
The partnership has also celebrated numerous successes at the Considerate Constructors Awards and previous Celebrating Construction in South Yorkshire Awards.
It was also awarded the Partnership and Collaboration Award at both regional and national level at the National Training Awards in 2008.
Kier regional operations director, Phil Oades, said: “We are extremely proud to be short-listed for yet another award. This nomination continues a year of hard work and tireless dedication from every member of the Kier team, who have built on ten years of successes to continue to provide the best service for our customers in Sheffield.
“Our long list of award wins across every category shows how Kier Sheffield really is at the forefront of maintenance providers both regionally and nationally. We pride ourselves on providing a gold service to everyone from our customers to our employees, apprentices and the environment.”
The Celebrating Construction in South Yorkshire Awards is the region’s premier construction event and showcases the best in South Yorkshire’s construction community. It will be held tonight at Cutler’s Hall in Sheffield.
Kier Sheffield is responsible for repairs and maintenance to housing stock managed by Sheffield Council, as well as schools and public buildings.
