Tamar Music Festival enjoyed by families

Families in Plymouth dusted off their wellies and embraced the festival season, with the help from a generous donation from Sanctuary Housing’s Grand Ideas Fund.
Event organisers, Tamar View Community Complex, brought the community together with a ‘festival and funday’ event. Local families got stuck into the excitement of performances from bands, fairground rides, stalls and tasty refreshments.
Tamar View Community Complex is one of many community groups across England to benefit from Sanctuary’s Grand Ideas Fund. Now in its third year, the fund offers up to £1,000 to groups that need financial support to help deliver activities within their local community for the benefit of local residents.
The local enterprise, which aims to provide quality services to the local community, arranged the free festival to create a fantastic day for all the family to enjoy.
Pat Patel, centre manager, said: “Our main aim is to listen to local residents and with the help of Sanctuary’s donation, we were able to organise an event which was enjoyed by many and strengthened our community spirit.”
Funding was received from the housing provider and a Plymouth based company, MVV Environment Devonport Limited – a sustainable waste management provider.
The Grand Ideas Fund is open for applications from charities, resident groups and voluntary organisations.
The fund is designed to support as wide a variety of projects as possible – from youth activities to the improvement of community facilities.
