Staff at Sovini Group on Merseyside have raised over £700 - and counting - after they got busy baking last week in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Employees from Sovini, which incorporates social landlord One Vision Housing, have raised £730 to date, with more donations likely to arrive in the coming days.
Staff from all departments brought in home-made cakes to donate to the bake sale on Thursday, 26th September. Employees were also encouraged to 'dress-down' in exchange for a donation to the cancer charity.
Tea, coffee and cakes were on offer, together with a raffle for a number of donated prizes. There then followed a 'trolley-dash' through the offices, providing staff with another opportunity to snap up the goodies.
Staff at neighbouring Capita, who share Sovini’s Atlantic Park site in Bootle, also took part in the fundraising.
Ann Owens, resident involvement manager for One Vision Housing, said: "The whole event brought a real buzz about the building and was positive for everybody. We’re still selling books as part of the fundraising so we’re hoping to raise around £800 for Macmillan. One of our tenants, Barbara Gower, recently died from cancer and was always involved with fundraising herself. The event was partly in memory of her."
The Sovini Group incorporates not-for-profit organisations such as One Vision Housing and commercial partners including Sovini Maintenance Services. One Vision Housing manages over 11,700 homes on Merseyside.
