Committee sees newly-built Cathedral View in Ely
Members of East Cambridgeshire Committee were invited along to a tour of several Sanctuary Group development sites in the Ely area last week.
The Committee, which comprises councillors from East Cambridgeshire District Council, independent members and tenants from the district, meets quarterly to monitor the provision of landlord services for Sanctuary Housing tenants in theEast Cambridgeshirearea.
The tour took place last Monday morning (9 September) prior to the committee meeting in the afternoon, and was organised to give the members a greater knowledge of the individual housing developments they are helping to oversee.
Sites visited included The Gardens at Lynn Road and Cathedral View, just off Carey Close, both in Ely.
Sarah Brind, Sanctuary’s Development Manager – East, said: “This was a chance for committee members to see a range of properties that are just starting on site, like The Gardens at Lynn Road and Cathedral View, which is due to complete very shortly.
“Sanctuary welcomes interest from the committee and hopes that this first-hand look at the much needed new homes will help members as they consider matters relating to housing in the district in the future.”
Cllr Tom Kerby from East Cambridgeshire District Council, who joined Monday’s tour, said: “This was an invaluable opportunity for us to learn more about the developments in the district and to see the newer properties for the first time. Our visit will help us all as a committee to better understand the needs of tenants and the local community so we can serve their interests in the future.”
