Cancer charity, Macmillan Cancer Support has scored a hole in one for Reading cancer sufferers and their families thanks to funds raised from a charity golf tournament organised by Hanover Housing Association. Staff from Hanover presented a cheque for £3,500 to Linda Whitby, Fundraising Support Officer for Macmillan Cancer Support on Tuesday, 17 September. The fund raiser was part of a national campaign of charity events that Hanover, its staff and residents have been running to celebrate the housing association’s 50th anniversary
Tony Tench Retirement Housing and Property Director, of Hanover said: “We were all very keen to help local cancer sufferers and it’s great that we’ve been able to donate the proceeds from this fun golf day to Macmillan Cancer Support.
“Over the years I've seen how valuable their work is at very difficult times for individuals with cancer and their families.
Linda Whitby from Macmillan said: “It is always a pleasure to meet people who fundraise for us and I enjoyed meeting the staff from Hanover. I would like to thank them all for their generosity and support.”
