This year, Equity Housing Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary. At the Group’s 50th Annual General Meeting, Board Members, employees, customers and key partners were joined by a number of special guests from the housing sector. They included guest speaker Grainia Long, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
The event looked back on some of Equity's fantastic achievements over the last 50 years and the positive impact it has had on lives and communities. As well as celebrating the past, Equity is excitedly looking forward to the future. The Group recently expanded the range of services it provides to customers. In January, it launched the Equity Foundation which has already provided grant funding of £150,000 to support local community projects to tackle worklessness and improve health awareness.
In recent years the Group has established a reputation for excellence and expertise, particularly in the area of shared ownership. This year’s AGM saw the launch of Equity Living, a new ethical estate agency which will sell, let and manage homes for individuals, private landlords and housing providers. Later this year the Group is set to launch Equity Select, its new service for Older People. In recent months the Group has begun a programme to remodel and refurbish communal lounges in its supported housing schemes. This follows the installation of PCs and access to broadband internet in all of the lounges, with training provided.
Chief Executive David Fisher said “It’s been fantastic to look back on what Equity has achieved over the last 50 years and to look forward to an exciting new chapter for the Group. We want to create ‘inspired living’ and I believe that our new range of service offers to our customers will help us to deliver an inspiring future for everyone”.
