One of Hull’s leading housing associations has helped out a local rugby team, providing them with much needed medical and agility training equipment.
Bransholme Dales ARLFC successfully secured £500 from Riverside through their community chest fund. Bransholme ARLFC is a non profit organisation and play on the local pitch at The Dales School on the North Bransholme estate. Many of the fifty people involved in the team live on the North Bransholme estate.
Sonny Wilson, head coach said ”without this vital funding from Riverside we would not have been able to carry on with the team. More than three quarters of the team are from the North Bransholme estate and this gives people of all ages something to do, whilst keeping fit”.
He added “we would love to be able to grow the team in the future, subject to funds. We have kids as young as six from the estate who come along to training. The team is something we hope to keep going for their future.
The team won the Lockwood Motors Trophy in 2012and has recently recruited Sonny Esslemont, a Hull Kingston Rovers first team player to assist with the coaching and hope to have another successful season in 2013.
Carl Mitchell, Riverside’s assistant director said “we are delighted to be able to support local sport on North Bransholme. The majority of the people involved with the rugby team live in the area and it is great to see different age groups participating in training. It’s a great way to keep fit and gives the younger children and teenagers aspiration to play for the team. We wish to team the best of luck for the forthcoming season.
