Plymouth Council tenants say 'yes' to stock transfer
Ealing Council is to host a ‘speed dating’ house swap event for tenants looking to move to smaller or larger homes.
With downsizing becoming crucial with the advent of the bedroom tax, tenants are being asked to provide details of their homes before the housing mutual exchange event at Ealing Town Hall on next Thursday.
The details will be displayed on boards and council staff will be on hand to introduce tenants looking swap their properties.
Councillor Hitesh Tailor, cabinet member for housing, employment and skills, said: “People’s housing needs change, whether it’s a growing family wanting more space; someone looking to swap for a smaller home or simply wishing to move to a different area; by bringing them together in the same room we can act as matchmakers and help them to find homes which are right for them.
“I’m delighted that more than 100 tenants have already signed up for the event and invite others who are interested in attending to contact us for more information.”
Those who want to exchange their property for one with fewer bedrooms may qualify for a £1,000 incentive payment per room given up.
