Nuisance tenant receives Injunction
Published by Joanne McNally for Riverside in Housing and also in Communities
Riverside, which manages homes in the Stretford has been successful in securing an injunction which prevents a tenant from returning to their own property.
Abdul Matin of St Stephens Court is prevented from entering an area of Stretford which includes the area bordered by Chester Road, Portland Road, Burleigh Road and Taylors Road. Mr Matin had been warned several times about his behaviour. Despite these warnings and issuing possession proceedings, the anti-social behaviour continued, and Riverside applied to the courts for an injunction.
If Mr Matin breaches the injunction he can be arrested and sent to prison. The injunction is in force provisionally until 15th October 2013.
Riverside has a zero tolerance approach to dealing with anti-social behaviour of any description.
Jeff Allen, Riverside’s Neighbourhood Services Manager said, “Whilst we are always reluctant to take such severe action as preventing someone returning to their own home, the severity of the Mr Matin’s anti-social behaviour left Riverside no other choice. We are now confident that this injunction ensures the wellbeing and peace of mind of our other tenants living in that area”
