Vanessa, Oliver and Milly at their new home
Thanks to Spire Homes’ development in Kings Cliffe local family Adam, Vanessa, son Oliver and their dog Milly have a place to call home.
It took the family 3 years to be allocated a social housing home and they had to move multiple times before they found their perfect home in Kings Cliffe. They had previously lived with parents before renting privately. As they were privately renting in Kings Cliffe and had a local connection to the area, they were delighted that their bid was successful.
“Our new home is perfect – it is so much better for us. It is safe and secure, and close to Oliver’s school which he starts in September. It is a lot cheaper to run than where we were living before, and it has double glazing so we don’t need to use the heating as much. The garden is great for Oliver and Milly to play in”, said Vanessa.
The new development, Sovereign Grange, provides a range of housing options from larger family homes to starter homes.
“We are particularly pleased that the development provides a number of homes which are specifically for local people. Too frequently local people are ‘priced out’ of their community or are forced to live in unsuitable accommodation. These new homes will provide an affordable opportunity in Kings Cliffe for local people to rent or part purchase a new home” Cat Hartley, Housing Strategy Manager for East Northamptonshire Council.
