Housing’s future: The Young Leaders Experience
Published by Max Salsbury for 24dash.com in Housing
24housing magazine’s Young Leaders Experience has had its deadline for entries extended, giving the most aspirational fresh faces in the sector a little longer to get on-board.
The two-day event, which is being delivered in conjunction with social landlord whg, is offering 100 would-be future CEOs the chance to learn directly from current industry leaders.
A range of experts from a number of sectors - including academics from Aston University and representatives from creative, financial, governance, human resources and legal organisations - have signed-up to deliver leadership sessions over the two days.
Future leaders will also get the chance to quiz senior housing bosses on their career paths, and hear direct from government and housing bodies about the skills the next generation of CEOs will need to meet the challenges facing the sector.
Keynote speakers for the event at Aston University in Birmingham on 13 and 14 November include:
- Hannah Fearn, former editor of the Guardian Housing Network.
- Ruth Cooke, chief executive of Midland Heart.
- Helen Scurr, founder of HS Housing Consultancy and former chair of the Chartered Institute of Housing’s West Midlands Regional; Committee.
- Jan Kitshoff, customer insight champion.
- Professor Julia King, former Rolls-Royce director and current vice-chancellor at Aston University.
- Former 24housing Young Leader winners.
Gary Fulford, group chief executive of whg, said: “The housing sector is attracting more and more young professionals who bring a vast amount of skills and knowledge. We need to nurture that talent to ensure the sector is dynamic and creative.
“whg has a proud history of supporting talent within our communities and also developing our own staff. Our award-winning skills centre, partnership to deliver training and qualifications and community champions to provide peer-to-peer support for those seeking employment and training, are just some of the projects we run to support customers.
“The Young Leaders Experience will bring people together to share their passion and vision for the sector, and learn from each other. There will be a range of experienced professionals from across the sector to share their experiences and help younger people to see what they can achieve with their careers.”
Michelle Pacey, publisher of 24housing magazine, said: “The Young Leaders Experience is a fantastic opportunity for the housing sector’s future leaders to get together and share what we hope will be a genuinely inspiring, challenging and thought-provoking couple of days.
“We wanted to do something totally unique that would bring our Young Leaders brand to life and are absolutely delighted with the programme that has been put together.”
The cost for the event is £300, which includes all training sessions and materials, meals and overnight accommodation.
