New partnership between SDS and the NHF provides a voice for Housing Providers

Following the long-term successful partnership that SDS has with the National Housing Federation at their annual Development Conference, SDS will now be supporting the Federation with their ongoing lobbying to enable the delivery of great homes.
Through regular meetings with the Federation’s Policy and Research team SDS now has a unique channel to the ear of government. The arrangement affords an opportunity for all staff at customers of SDS to feedback their views and comments, thus making a contribution to the way affordable housing developments are delivered.
With over 200 customers, ranging from the smallest to the largest housing associations, local authorities, private sector developers and other consultants, SDS is ideally placed to communicate the day-to-day development issues faced by the sector and to support the Federation in creating the right operating environment for everyone.
The initiative came from one of the regular series of SDS user group meetings. A common theme voiced by customers was that they wanted SDS to campaign on their behalf on the bigger development issues. On examining how SDS could respond, it came to the conclusion that increased dialogue with the Federation was the best option.
The Federation, being the trade body for housing associations, already has the ear of Government and is experienced at enabling the delivery of great homes by making the case for housing associations and increasing their profile. SDS adds practitioner-based development expertise thus ensuring this new partnership maximizes the chance of building more great homes.
Phil Shelton, chief executive for SDS added: ‘This should prove very beneficial for our customers. It allows us to communicate the development issues that our customers are facing at the highest level.’
Stuart Ropke, Assistant Director of Policy and Research, National Housing Federation says:
“We are delighted to partner with SDS and believe that with their strong market intelligence and our lobbying experience we will be able to more effectively influence the operating environment for housing associations.”
