Police operation sees reduction in gang crime in Manchester
A man is recovering after being gunned down by his landlord - who suspected his tenant of having an affair with his wife.
The victim, known only as Oyatunde, is believed to have moved into landlord Mr Latunji's house three years ago in the Nigerian state of Ogun.
Trouble is thought to have flared up in April, when rumours emerged of a relationship between Oyatunde and Mrs Latunji.
The landlord confronted his tenant in an exchange that led to fists being thrown.
Oyatunde decided to leave the Latunji home but when he returned at the end of July to collect his things, he and his former landlord become embroiled in another fight that culminated in the shooting.
A source said: "The brawling men were soon separated by neighbours, only for Latunji to rush into his apartment and emerge moments later with a loaded gun. He aimed at Oyatunde’s thigh and pulled the trigger.”
“The landlord could have killed the man. But we thank God that did not happen."
Mr Latunji has disappeared since the incident.
