The Together Housing Group (THG) and Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) have formed a cost saving partnership to deliver part of their repairs service.
“Northern Shared Services”, a joint venture company formed in April, has seen WDH employees providing a responsive repairs service to around 1,400 Pennine Housing 2000 properties (a member of the Together Housing Group) in Sheffield.
The partnership is aimed at generating efficiencies over the life of the five-year contract.
Steve Close, Together Housing Group’s Deputy Chief Executive, said the partnership made sense on a number of levels and was delighted with the early results.
He said: “We are continually looking at ways we can improve how we deliver services. We previously used a large contractor to deliver the repairs and by bringing the work in house through a partnership with WDH we can save money and have a more accountable service.
“We already have a good relationship with WDH and they share our ethos of delivering high quality services’.”
Kevin Dodd, Wakefield and District Housing’s Chief Executive said: “We are extremely proud to enter this new and unique partnership because it demonstrates the excellence and efficiency of WDH’s repairs service. By working in this way, we will ultimately improve the services tenants receive.”
