Leading UK housing and care provider Sanctuary Group has been recognised as one of the best employers in the West Midlands after being shortlisted for a regional award for its thriving apprenticeship programme.
The Group has once again reached the West Midlands regional final of the National Apprenticeship Awards 2013 in the category of Macro Employer of the Year (5,000+ employees).
The category of the annual awards seeks to acknowledge and celebrate employers’ commitment to developing their workforce through apprenticeships.
Sanctuary’s award winning apprenticeship programme offers roles across a range of business areas including finance, IT, business administration, health, social care, housing, maintenance operations and horticulture.
Apprentices benefit from on-the-job training and receive support to work towards nationally recognised qualifications, allowing them to earn while they learn.
Amanda Gonsalves, Sanctuary Group’s Director of HR, said: “We believe in creating meaningful opportunities for young people to build successful careers, so we are delighted to have been shortlisted for this important award.
“We have currently supported around 250 young people into employment through our apprenticeship scheme which forms an integral part of the Group’s talent agenda.”
Now in their tenth year, the National Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the achievements of the country’s most outstanding apprentices and apprenticeship employers. The award winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Banqueting Suite, Council House, in Birmingham on 23 September.
Karen Woodward, Divisional Apprenticeships Director for the National Apprenticeship Service, added: “The National Apprenticeship Awards showcase excellence and offer a fantastic platform for apprentices and employers in our region to gain the recognition they richly deserve.
“I am delighted Sanctuary Group has been shortlisted and congratulate them on this achievement. All our finalists are shining examples of how apprenticeships can change lives and develop businesses, and I wish them all the best of luck!”
