Spire Homes are proud to announce the start of a new affordable housing development in Barnwell. The 9 two and three bedroom homes will be available for below market rent and shared ownership and will be ready to move into in October 2013. Priority will be given to people who have a local connection to Barnwell.
Spire Homes' Chairman John Farrar said “This development is a testament of what Spire Homes is about – building homes that people can afford, for those who need them the most. We know that these homes are needed now more than ever, and we are grateful to everyone involved for making them a reality. These homes in Barnwell are a great way for us to help first time buyers buy their own homes and get on to the property ladder, and what better way to celebrate than as part of Shared Ownership week.”
Shared Ownership Week, a campaign run by the National Housing Federation, aims to highlight the need for shared ownership within today’s housing market. More and more would-be first-time buyers are unable to buy due to high house prices and deposit requirements – and shared ownership is an ideal solution. It offers an affordable route into owning your own home, meeting families’ aspirations and allowing them to live and work in areas they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford.
John Farrar marked the start on site by cutting the soil with guests. He was joined by East Northamptonshire Council Chairman Councillor Clive Wood, Graham Wise from Barnwell Parish, Simon Preston from Westleigh Developments, Peter Bradley from Jefferson Sheard architects, Gary Marshall from Davis Langdon and Longhurst Group project manager John Henderson all of whom helped make the development happen.
Spire Homes have plans to build around 400 new homes throughout Northamptonshire over the next 4 years. These high quality affordable properties will help to provide many families with much needed homes.
