Lewisham Homes’ residents and community and voluntary groups can apply for grants of up to £5000 to improve the local area or community.
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the fund in previous years, we’ve increased the total funding to £60,000 so even more projects will have the opportunity to be funded this year.
We are looking for projects that fulfil these priorities:
- Improvements to the Community.
- Improvements to the local environment.
- Increase Safety in your area.
- The projects must benefit Lewisham Homes’ residents.
We’ve seen some amazing community projects funded over the 4 years it’s been running. In the past year the fund has enabled communities to hold spectacular community events, revitalise green spaces and communal gardens and improve the security of block stairwells.
Susan Asquith, Community involvement Manager at Lewisham Homes said “The energy of our communities in delivering these projects is amazing – hence we’ve been able to increase the fund size this year to give as many of our residents as we can a chance to benefit”
The successful funding is decided by a panel of residents, partners and community involvement officers in a real-life Dragon’s Den session.
Some great examples of projects that won funding last year, like the Hazel Groove intergenerational project at Hazel Grove, can be seen on film here at www.youtube.com/lewishamhomes

Notes to editors
Lewisham Homes is an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) set up by Lewisham Council in January 2007 to manage, maintain and improve its council houses and estates. It is a private non-profit company of which the Council is the sole shareholder.
The Community Fund (CF) was set-up in 2010 as part of the Residents’ Business Plan. The fund gives residents the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to £5,000 to improve their local area. Last year a panel of residents approved 11 projects totalling £30,000.This year, the fund has been increased to a total of £60,000 giving even more residents the opportunity to make their project a reality.
