New initiative launched to bring university research direct to housing practitioners

The Housing Quality Network (HQN) is to launch a new service in April to bring the latest university research direct to housing practitioners.

In partnership with the University of Sheffield’s Department of Town and Regional Planning and the Housing Studies Association (HSA), a regular newsletter will give HQN members access the latest evidence to support their decision making on services and strategy.

Members will be able to tap in to the wide range of housing research underway in the UK’s universities - from green issues to commercial risk and community development.

The initiative aims to add value to housing organisations’ work and support information sharing with residents.

The network service, titled Evidence, will be managed by research associate at the Department of Town and Regional Planning and the HQN's Janis Bright.

“I am very impressed with the quality of housing research I have seen so far. Our universities are doing some great work. It’s time we brought it to the attention of a wider audience. Our job is to find the pearls of wisdom that will make a difference to our members in their day to day jobs," said HQN chief executive Alistair McIntosh.
