Liverpool Housing Provider, The SLH Group, is as committed as ever to supporting local employment and has pledged to quadruple the number of apprenticeships they take on over the next four years.

In support of National Apprenticeship Week (11th – 15th March), The SLH Group aim to provide over 60 new apprenticeships/trainee opportunities for local people to gain valuable training, qualifications, work experience and, significantly, a working wage.

These opportunities will be developed incrementally over the next four years and offer a variety of exciting roles covering everything from building trades, through to business apprenticeships.

The SLH Group has always been committed to employing staff locally where possible, demonstrated by 84% of our staff currently living in the Liverpool area.

This commitment to local employment is further reinforced by the Groups aim to engage and use local supplier/supply chains, retaining investment locally.  Last year The SLH Group invested over £7.1 million within the local economy.

Wayne Gales, Director of Operations at The SLH Group said “Working with our partners, we have established a gateway that strives to maximise opportunities for local training and employment.  Speke has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country so providing opportunities for young people to learn and develop in our own neighbourhoods is crucial in these challenging times.  The creation of the new apprenticeships will also help support the Liverpool Mayoral’s pledge to create 20,000 new jobs in Liverpool.”
