A social housing-provider is in the running to scoop a raft of prestigious awards.
Salix Homes, which manages 10,500 homes across central Salford on behalf of Salford City Council, has been shortlisted in five categories in the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) Northern Awards 2013.
The national awards are open to social housing providers, tenants and contractors and recognise both individual and collaborative initiatives that have made a real difference to people’s lives and their wider communities.
Salix Homes has been shortlisted in the Excellence in Equality and Diversity category for its Deaf Focus Group and the Excellence in Tenant-led Scrutiny category for its Customer Senate.
Customer governance manager Margaret Connor has also made the shortlist in the Tenant/Resident Involvement Officer of the Year category while tenant James Gillard, who sits on the Salix Homes Customer Senate, is in the running for the Tenant of the Year award.
Salix Homes has also been shortlisted for a joint award with contractor Forrest in the Tenant/Resident Liaison Officer of the Year (Contractor) category in which Forrest customer support officer Hannah Pye has made the shortlist.
Hannah has worked across a range of Salix Homes’ home improvement schemes including Decent Homes projects at Canon Hussey and SpikeIsland.
Joe Willis, chief executive at Salix Homes, said: “This is the third consecutive year we have been shortlisted in the TPAS awards which is a fantastic achievement.
“Since Salix Homes launched in 2007 we have strived to place our customers at the heart of everything we do and ensured they are at the forefront of the way we deliver services.
“The past year has been one of our most successful in terms of customer involvement and we are particularly proud of our Deaf Focus Group, which has revolutionised the way our deaf tenants access services and changed their lives for the better.
“We are just thrilled that all our hard work is making a difference to the lives of our customers and that it has been recognised by TPAS.”
The TPAS Northern Awards Final is being held on 3 May at The Palace Hotel in Manchester. The winners will go forward to the prestigious national final, which will be held later in the year, where they will compete against the winners from Southern and Central England.
