A Wear Valley company is celebrating being named as one of the top three firms to work for in the country.

Dale & Valley Homes came third in the not-for-profit section of the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For awards.

Last year the company, which manages council homes in the Wear valley area, just missed out on the top ten when it was placed 11^th.

Peter Chaffer, chief executive, said: “We are delighted to have done so well. It is only two years since we first participated in Best Companies.

“Their assessments are made on the basis of an anonymous survey so staff can say what they really think. We receive feedback from the surveys and can use that to change the way we do things.

“Well motivated and happy staff are the best asset a business can have, which has a direct impact on the quality of service customers receive. Highly motivated staff have led to us also being one of the highest performing housing organisations in the country for customer satisfaction.”
