New affordable homes for St Helens as work re-starts on stalled site

Construction work has re-started on the site of a stalled housing development in St Helens that will bring over 30 affordable new homes to the area.
Specialist property developer Mulbury Homes initially acquired the site, known as The Beeches, from the administrators of Chelford Homes, which went into administration in June 2012. The site was then acquired by leading North West housing group Regenda, who are committed to providing affordable homes for rent and purchase across the region.
They will be working in partnership with Mulbury to complete the St Helens development, which consists of seven partly-built homes and a further 27 new ones on Jubits Lane. The development, which has received funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), will be a mix of two, three and four bedroomed homes, all offered for affordable rent.
All of the 27 new properties will be compliant with Housing Quality Indicators (HQIs) and are designed to meet the government’s Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
Greg Mulligan, director at Mulbury Homes said: “By creating a partnership with Regenda Group, we are able to deliver much needed affordable housing in this area of St Helens, rather than allowing it to lie dormant.
“We are making it a priority to complete the seven partly built homes by the end of March this year, with the entire scheme to be finished by March 2014.”
