City South Manchester Housing Trust named in Best 100 Not For Profit Companies

City South Manchester Housing Trust is celebrating after being named one of The Sunday Times 100 Best Not for Profit Organisations at a ceremony held in London yesterday.

The Trust owns and manages over 4,000 homes in the Hulme, Moss Side, Whalley Range and Fallowfield areas of Manchester. It was the organisations first time being assessed in the listings that recognise the best companies to work for in a range of sectors across the UK.

Chief Executive, Dave Power, said: “It’s great to know that our staff feel such a key part of the organisation. Our teams are what make the organisation tick and we invest heavily in staff training and internal communications to make sure they are able to deliver high quality services to the communities that we work in. We won’t rest on our laurels though, we’ll continue to engage with and listen to our people.”

The listing comes after detailed survey work across the organisation covering eight key areas of employee engagement, looking at how staff feel about areas such as leadership, personal growth and teams.

Gary Power, a leading hand in the trust’s grounds maintenance team, said:  “I’ve been with the company nearly four years now and you are constantly involved in all aspects of what is going on and what the vision for the future is. I have always been keen to progress and I feel this is a company that notices this and encourages people to develop their careers. Everybody within the company is very approachable from the Chief Executive to the people doing the repairs. We have a group called the employee forum which I think is a fantastic idea – where reps from each department meet to talk about things with the management team. I also like the fact that we spend a lot of time on youth initiatives such as apprenticeships and workshops - giving local young people a real chance in life.”

Full details of the listings will be published at on the Sunday Times website on Sunday 17th March.
