From 25th February – 1 March Origin Housing is organising an "Employment and Training Week" - an opportunity to promote to residents the many opportunities which are available to them.
As part of the week, we have organised free training courses including food hygiene, touch-typing, start your own business and an introduction to adult social care; all providing specialist skills and qualifications.
We’re also offering free drop in sessions with one-to-one support for CV-writing, looking for jobs, completing application forms and interview techniques.
This focused employment and training support, alongside our broader social investment work is helping residents to manage their money, get online and volunteer within their communities; all helping to support our customers into work.
Head of community development Esther Archer says “With all of the Welfare Reform changes happening, it’s really important that we help our residents as much as we can. This week offers them the chance to get free professional advice and take part in a course that gives them an insight into a new career. It’s part of the support that we are offering to people. Included in the week we’ll be letting people know what else we can do to help them, such as welfare and benefits advice, making the most of their money courses and how we can help get the best offers by going online.”
