Olympic bikes donated to Dorset Scouts

Spectrum Property Care has donated the two bikes usedto get around Weymouth during the Olympics to a great local organisation – the Dorset Scouts.

The bikes were originally purchased to enable operatives to reach properties that fell within the roadblocks active during the 2012 Olympic s. Their usual method of transport, vans, just wouldn’t have been practical.

The bikes worked well, but became redundant after The Games. Donating them to the Dorset Scouts meant that they could give real benefit to others.

Neil Patterson, Contract Manager at Spectrum Property Care said: "We are happy to donate the bikes to a cause where they will be used to their full potential."

The handover took place in Wareham at the County Campsite for Dorset Scouts: Buddens Scout Centre. The venue covers 95 acres and attracts scouts from all over the UK. Mike Parkes, County Commissioner and leader to 7,500 Dorset scouts wasthe lucky recipient.

He said: "The bikes will be put to good use by the service crew to get around the site to look after campers. They will be used by up to 100 people."
