Stockport Homes’ Repair 1st Team has won the UK ‘Best Direct Labour Organisation’ award at the Best Practice in Maintenance Awards 2013.
The awards are organised by the National Housing Maintenance Forum and each year recognise best practice in the maintenance of social housing.
The team’s aims and objectives were established by customers and it has innovated to improve outcomes. These include: improvements in repair costs and the speed of doing repairs; improvements in safety and quality; and development of staff to continually improve the service. This has led to a continued increase in customer satisfaction with the repairs service. The service is currently running with its best ever results since it was formed in 2005.
The team has a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility as well as to service delivery, with recycling initiatives and community fun days. The service is based on the spirit of delivering the best service possible, for the best value, and working with partners to deliver more than just repairs. It has great plans to grow and deliver these award winning services to local schools and businesses so more customers can share in this truly effective service.
Mark Hudson, Director of Technical Services, Stockport Homes said, “It is fantastic that the hard work of the Repair 1st Team has been formally recognised by winning yet another prestigious UK award. There are further developments on the horizon including, Repair 1st extending its work areas to more capital and investment activities involving new job creation for Stockport residents and long term opportunities working in partnership with Stockport College and the Council.”
