Manchester city Council has selected Contour Homes as one of its preferred partners for the £113 million regeneration of the Brunswick estate.

A new company, Solutions 4 Brunswick (S4B), has been created specifically to drive the 25-year scheme that will see up to 500 new homes built for rent or sale.

Over 650 properties will have extensive refurbishments during the scheme's life. New road layouts and safe open spaces will also be created, along with a 60-bed sheltered accommodation facility and new retail areas.

S4B is made up of four organisations. Alongside Contour, which will manage the homes for the next 25 years, is contract manager Equitix; maintenance company Mears, which will refurbish the estate's existing homes; and construction company Galliford Try, which will build the new infrastructure.

S4B will also offer a wide range of opportunities for residents and locals, which will include jobs, apprenticeships and training.

Cllr Jim Battle, deputy leader of Manchester City Council, said: "Choosing the partnership organisation that will deliver the regeneration of Brunswick is a major step in the plans, and will give local people a renewed anticipation for a brighter future in the area.

"After a rigorous process in selecting a preferred partner, S4B struck us the perfect choice – an organisation which can give the skills and expertise that these ambitious plans deserve.

"There will be further open days in the coming months for residents who haven’t yet had the opportunity to meet the S4B team, which will be responsible for transforming Brunswick into an even better place to live."

Andy Rymer, general manager for S4B, said: "We have been dedicated to developing deliverable and vibrant plans for the Brunswick area for the last five years, so to be chosen as preferred partner is fantastic news for the whole team.

"Brunswick benefits from a strong sense of community and enjoys a great location on the city centre’s doorstep. The area deserves and needs substantial investment to bring the homes and environment up to decent modern homes standards set by the government. We look forward to speaking directly to residents and local stakeholders to give them a real insight into our plans, which we believe will transform the neighbourhood and provide a legacy for future generations."
