Bricks and mortar boards - can housing providers deliver lessons for life?
Tameside-based housing group New Charter has been named one of the UK’s best employers for the fourth year running.
The 18,000-home housing association has been awarded the top three stars in the independent Best Companies 2013 poll which rates employers based on feedback from staff.
Three stars means New Charter is an ‘extraordinary’ place to work with strong leadership and opportunities for staff to progress within the company.
New Charter employs around 950 people across Tameside, Oldham and Nottingham and staff from all three areas were surveyed.
This year the group launched a talent management programme for staff called Ingenium. Staff who are successful in getting onto the programme will work on key projects for the company and be trained to become future leaders.
Ian Munro, New Charter’s chief executive, said: “Our staff work incredibly hard to provide excellent services to our tenants and without them we wouldn’t have been able to do all the great things we’ve achieved.
“It’s still a very tough time for businesses and we feel incredibly proud that staff have continued to rate us so highly and that we’re in a position to carry on offering great rewards, benefits and development opportunities.
“A three star rating for the fourth consecutive year is fantastic and I’d like to thank staff for all their hard work, dedication and loyalty.”
