A Welsh housing provider's staff have each donated an hour of their Christmas pay to a charity that helps slum dwellers around the world.
Newydd Housing Association's employees' generosity has raised more than £1,000 for Homeless International.
Lynsey Davies, Newydd's customer service manager, said: "Pauline Lewis from Homeless International gave us a moving presentation at our Annual General Meeting and we just couldn’t believe the number of people living in such poor conditions around the world.
"One billion people, one in seven of us, live in slums and this will rise to 1.4 billion people by 2020. We thought donating an hour’s pay was an easy way of showing our support for the charity and doing our bit to help reduce this number."
Newydd manages over 2,600 properties across mid and south Wales and employs 94 people.
Chief Executive, Paul Roberts, said: "Just a small amount of money will help slum dwellers improve their lives. £1 will buy 30 bricks in Zimbabwe and £150 will set up a small school in Pakistan. I’m very proud of the staff for being so generous and donating more than £1000 to this great cause."
