Ben with Mr Speake
As part of Carbon Monoxide Awareness week 2012 Mears Shropshire Home Services supplied and fitted 20 carbon monoxide detectors free of charge, twelve were supplied to the first 12 people to call and quote ‘awareness week’ after reading an article in the local press or online. A draw was held for the other eight which were divided between the local housing hubs.
The winner from Porchfields Housing Hub was Mr Speake, who was visited by Shropshire Handyperson Service on 11th December. The alarm was fitted by Ben McGuckin, 19, Shropshire’s Apprentice Handyperson under the supervision of experienced Handyperson Bill Arnold. Ben explained the detector to Mr Speake and they chatted about the importance of carbon monoxide awareness.
Ben has been with Shropshire Handyperson since March 2012, is studying NVQs in Building Maintenance, gets on well with our customers and is real asset to Shropshire.
