City West Housing Trust and EnviroVent picked up the prize for Energy Efficient Retrofit/ Refurbishment of the Year at last week’s Energy Awards.
On the night, over 500 of the Energy industry's key players attended the inaugural Energy Awards. The awards had a record number of impressive entries which showcased the work of leading companies working hard to lower emissions.
In its second year, the Energy Awards recognise and reward both supply and demand-side excellence within the energy sector. The Awards acknowledge achievement in carbon reduction and energy efficiency, energy supply, brokering as well as products and services.

Engels now has happy residents with lower fuel bills whose living environment is free from condensation and mould.”

City West Housing Trust and EnviroVent won the prestigious award for the refurbishment of Engels House, a 1960s apartment block inSalford. After a complete transformation, Engels is now regarded as one of the most energy efficient high rises in the country. Numerous contractors worked on the project where state of the art eco-technologies were used to combat fuel poverty.
EnviroVent was responsible for supply and installing their MEV Spider, a continuous mechanical extract ventilation system, into each of the 58 flats. The unit was chosen by City West for its eco-friendly characteristics, energy efficiency and long term savings.
Since they were established in 2008, City West Housing Trust has invested over 200 million pounds into their housing stock as part of a long term programme to improve the homes which they own and manage.
