Spire Homes have plenty to be proud of as they celebrate their third anniversary since the Rutland housing transfer took place. More than £14 million has been spent on improving Rutland homes, and all of the promises made to tenants are on track.
Chairman of Spire Homes, John Farrar praised the difference that has been made within Rutland, “We’ve completed a huge amount of work to improve homes and services, which has made a big difference to the lives of our tenants. Customer satisfaction remains exceptionally high – and it is due to an incredible team effort that so much has been achieved over the past three years.”
Tenants have benefited from lots of improvements to their homes including new kitchens, bathrooms, central heating systems, and loft and cavity wall insulation. Sheltered schemes have also benefitted from major refurbishment including new door entry systems, the installation of solar PV panels, decoration and improved lighting and security.
Roger Begy, Rutland County Council leader said, “I am delighted with the progress and commitment shown by Spire Homes since the transfer of our housing stock. Spire has spent over £14 million on improvements – a level of investment that the council would not have been able to make, which was the key reason for proposing the transfer.”
Following tenant consultation, £230,000 has also been spent on Environmental Improvements - including improved footpaths and parking bays, better lighting, new fencing and bin stores.
As promised, Spire Homes have also improved services, and introduced new ones too, such as a Handyperson service to help with small jobs around the house. They’ve also introduced a new Money Guidance project to help people who are struggling financially, which has been a lifeline for many people in these difficult times.
Chairman, John Farrar added: “The feedback we’ve received is a real tribute to Spire Homes, our staff, residents and partner organisations who have helped us to achieve so much over the past three years.”
