Stockport Homes’ IT Team won the Best Mobility Project award in TechWeekEurope’s first ever Tech Success Awards for automating tenant visits using an Android tablet. The awards celebrate the achievements of those who have successfully implemented innovative IT projects within their organisations.

Judges said Stockport Homes’ entry “epitomised a true mobilisation solution - meeting the needs of the end users, having the ability to work offline, and ensuring the data is held securely”. They were also impressed with its flexibility for use on other platforms.

As part of its commitment to customer service excellence, Stockport Homes aims to carry out current tenant visits at least every two years. This involves Neighbourhood Housing Officers visiting customers to discuss tenancies and to identify any areas of concern that they may have.

The process had been manual and labour intensive. With 5,000 visits planned a year; a more efficient system was required. Stockport Homes worked with CommonTime to develop a mobile application which reduced the time to complete by over fifty per cent and has increased customer satisfaction levels along with the quality of the data captured.

Winners were announced via webcast on 6 December. Upon hearing that Stockport Homes had won, John Chambers, IT Manager said, “The Project Team is truly pleased to have received this recognition for enthusiastically developing a technical solution that is focused upon customer care. Our customers will be shortly seeing the long term benefits of all of this hard-work, as the team begin rolling out further mobile solutions for their housing colleagues.”
