HOMEBUYERS are starting to snap up plots at the St Mark's View development being built by Bromford Homes off Tennyson Road, Cheltenham.
Three buyers have now reserved homes following a successful open day. Shared ownership buyers have also been showing keen interest in the five homes being sold under Bromford's HomeBuy scheme, with two holding reservations agreed and more likely soon.
Bromford Homes Sales and Marketing Director Bev Hall is delighted with the very positive reaction from local homebuyers. "It's been fantastic. We got the chance to meet more than a dozen prospective buyers when we launched the scheme at Andrews estate agents and the response was very positive indeed," she said.
"From what people have told us, it's very clear that we have the right product in the right place at the right time − and this is borne out by fact that we are already starting to take reservations.
"Nearly all of the people we've spoken to are locals who want to buy a home that's near their family and friends. Many of them have driven past the former factory site, seen the demolition work going on and now − like us − they can't wait to see the houses take shape.
"I'm pleased to say that the site is now cleared and work has now started on the foundations. We expect to start laying the first bricks in early December and − weather permitting − will have the showhome finished early in the new year and the first occupations by early spring.
"It's great to see a redundant factory site being given a fresh lease of life by replacing the old buildings with some really high-quality homes that meet the needs of local people."
St Mark's View is at the heart of the first Bromford Homes Facebook page − set up to share updates and other useful information with the community around Tennyson Road.
The task of updating the page is in the hands of Sales Consultant Fabio Scimeca, who says: "All the people I spoke to at the launch were enthusiastic about the development and wanted us to play them the fly-through video which shows a computer-generated view of how the development will look.
"We are encouraging everyone − local residents and local shopkeepers as well as prospective buyers − to follow us on Twitter @BromfordHomes or make friends with us on Facebook so that they can keep in close touch with what's going on."
St Mark's View prices start from £167,995 for a two-bed house and from £212,995 for the three-bed houses, with the release of prices for the four-bed homes expected early next year. The five shared ownership homes are scheduled for completion in the summer of 2013.
